Power by stage
Stock is Hyundai's figure. Stage 1 to 3 are the tuners' own claims, mostly UK rolling-road figures in bhp; none of them says whether its figure is at the engine or the wheels, and they measure a stock car at about 190–198 bhp. Stage 2 and 3 figures are on 97–99 octane. We found no parts for a built engine, so there is no Stage 4 figure.
Names with an arrow go straight to that part's product page for this car. Names in a dashed outline are other brands that make the part; exact links for them are being added.

220–235 hpA remap on a standard car claims about 220–235 hp, with torque rising from 275 Nm to 325–386 Nm. Most are done on the tuner's own rolling road. Plug-in modules add less and change nothing permanently.
Typical cost: remaps £359.99–£595 (Forge, K-Tec, Courtenay Sport) or €590 (BR-Performance); plug-in modules £189.99 (Bluespark) or €449 on sale (RaceChip).List prices, Sept 2026, before shipping, import tax and fitting.

Built engine
no verified partsWe found no maker selling forged internals, a built short block or a big-turbo kit for the i20 N's 1.6, so we don't give a Stage 4 figure. If you want to go past Stage 3, find a shop that has built one of these engines before and can show its results.

Questions to ask the shop
- How do you read and write this engine computer, through the port or on the bench, and do you keep my original file?
- Was your file developed on an i20 N on your own dyno, and what does it make on 95 and on 98?
- Does it keep the catalyst and particulate filter working with no fault codes, so the car passes inspection? Which parts are E-marked?
- What peak torque does it run against the stock 275 Nm, and from what point do you insist on an uprated clutch?
- Do you log intake-air temperature and knock, and at which stage do you require a bigger intercooler?
- What warranty do you give on the tune or the engine?
