Power by stage
Stage 1 and 2 are estimates: Ford Performance's and BBK's published gains added to the 460 hp US figure for 2018–2021 cars. Stage 3 figures are the kit makers' own claims. Stage 4 is a community build range. Real results depend on fuel, weather and the individual car.
Names with an arrow go straight to that part's product page for this car. Names in a dashed outline are other brands that make the part; exact links for them are being added.
Tune and intake
+13 to +21 hpThe Coyote has no turbo to turn up, so a tune on its own adds less than on the other cars here. Ford Performance sells calibration kits that come with its cold air intake and a bigger 87 mm throttle body, and claims +19 hp at 6,500 rpm on 2018+ cars. On 93-octane fuel the Gen 3 engine's high compression limits what a tune can add; tuners such as Lund Racing get most of their extra power from E85. 2022–2023 cars are rated 450 hp, and 2015–2017 cars 435 hp.
Typical cost: Lund custom tune from $325 (tuner device extra); Ford Performance calibration with intake and throttle body $1,535.List prices, Sept 2026, before shipping, import tax and fitting.

Recommended with Stage 1
- Cold air intake recommended
Ford PerformanceRoushJLTSteeda
Included in Ford Performance's kits. On its own, without a tune, it adds little.
- 87 mm throttle body optional
Ford PerformanceBBK
Part of the Ford Performance kits, and only useful together with a tune.
Headers and exhaust
≈+30 to +50 hpLong-tube headers are the biggest bolt-on gain on the Coyote, and they need a tune written for them. BBK says 30+ hp is typical for its long-tube headers. On 2015–2017 cars, Ford Performance's Power Pack 3 added the GT350 intake manifold and claimed +37 hp peak; Ford no longer lists it.
Typical cost: BBK long-tube headers $850.List prices, Sept 2026, before shipping, import tax and fitting.
Stage 2 packages compared
| Package | Fuel | Claimed power | Claimed torque | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BBK long-tube headers + tune | Premium | 30+ hp typical | — | Needs BBK mid-pipes; no emissions approval |
| Ford Performance Power Pack 3 (2015–2017) | 91 US or higher | +37 hp peak | +5 lb-ft peak | GT350 intake manifold, cold air intake and 87 mm throttle body; no longer listed by Ford |
Parts list
- Long-tube headers required
BBK long-tube headers (1-7/8")KooksAmerican Racing HeadersStainless Works
The main Stage 2 part. They change the exhaust layout, so the car needs matching mid-pipes and a new tune.
- Catalysed mid-pipes required
BBKKooksAmerican Racing Headers
Choose mid-pipes with catalytic converters. Even with them, most long-tube headers are sold for off-road use only, because they have no emissions approval.
- Cold air intake recommended
Ford PerformanceRoushJLT
If you didn't fit one at Stage 1.
- Cat-back exhaust optional
BorlaRoushCorsa
Mostly sound. Little extra power on its own.
Supercharger kit
623–825 hpThis is where the Coyote really changes. Bolt-on supercharger kits come with their own fuel parts and tune, and several makers publish figures for the S550. The Ford Performance kit, built by Roush, claimed 750 hp and came with a 3-year/36,000-mile limited powertrain warranty when installed by a Ford dealer or an ASE-certified technician. For 2015–2017 cars, Ford Performance claimed 670 hp on 93 octane and Roush 727 hp for its Phase 2 kit.
Typical cost: supercharger kits $6,950–$9,596 (Ford Performance, Whipple, ProCharger, Roush, Edelbrock); Tremec Magnum XL swap $6,200.List prices, Sept 2026, before shipping, import tax and fitting.

Kits include the intercooler, fuel parts and a tune. Check exactly what yours includes before you buy.
- Fuel system upgrade required
WhippleVMPProCharger
Bigger injectors and a fuel pump booster keep the engine fed under boost. Most kits include them.
- Gearbox upgrade recommended
JPC Racing Tremec Magnum XL swapBrady Performance (10R80)
The MT82 manual is the weak link at this power; the Tremec Magnum XL swap is rated to 700 lb-ft. Brady Performance says the 10R80 automatic's stock clutches hold about 700 hp before it needs a rebuild.
- Upgraded half-shafts recommended
The Driveshaft Shop
Hard launches on sticky tyres with this much power can snap the factory half-shafts.
Built engine
1,000+ hpRetailer guidance puts the limit of the factory pistons and rods at about 600 wheel horsepower, roughly 750 at the crank. Beyond that you need a forged short block, a big supercharger or twin turbos, a return-style fuel system for E85 and a custom tune. These are community build ranges, not product claims.
Parts list
- Forged short block required
Ford Performance Aluminator SC short blockManleyWiseco
Ford's supercharger-spec short block uses forged Mahle pistons and Manley H-beam rods.
- Big supercharger or twin-turbo kit required
WhippleHellion
Hellion's twin-turbo kits come without a tune or fuel system, so budget for both.
- Return-style fuel system with bigger injectors required
Fore InnovationsAeromotive
Boosted cars on E85 need a return-style system and injectors of around 1,000 cc or more.
- Custom dyno tune required

Questions to ask the shop
- Is my car a 2015–2017 or a 2018+ Coyote, and is the file made for my gearbox: MT82, 6R80 or 10R80?
- Is this a custom dyno tune or a mail-order file, and who supports it?
- Are the headers catalysed, and will the car pass inspection where I live?
- For a supercharger: which fuel parts are included, and which fuel is the tune written for?
- Will my gearbox and half-shafts hold this power, and what does the upgrade cost?
- Does the kit keep any warranty, and who has to install it for that?
