Power by stage
Stock is Toyota's figure for European cars. Stage 1 to 4 are tuners' own claims, mostly UK figures on 99 octane; Garage Whifbitz measures at the wheels and converts to engine power, so its figures are estimates. Israel sells 98 octane at most, so expect a little less.

Stage 1: Software only
300–310 hpA remap on a standard car claims about 300–310 hp, from Toyota's 261 PS. UK tuners write their own files with EcuTek, and Garage Whifbitz says a totally standard car normally makes around 300 bhp with a remap (its guide). Toyota itself now sells GR Performance Software in Japan, which adds torque and changes the four-wheel-drive and steering settings (Toyota Japan). Plug-in modules add less and change nothing permanently.
Typical cost: Forge remap £400, done at Forge; Toyota's GR Performance Software ¥99,000–¥265,100 in Japan.List prices, Sept 2026, before shipping, import tax and fitting.

320–350 hpStage 2 adds a bigger intercooler, an intake and an exhaust with a file written for them. Forge's Stage 2 claims 320 bhp and 420 Nm, and Garage Whifbitz says a car with these parts usually makes around 330 bhp after a remap; its next step, Kelford camshafts and valve springs with a custom file, gets about 350 bhp from the factory turbo (its guide).
Typical cost: Eventuri intake £1,344–£1,450 (Collins Performance); Milltek filter-back exhaust £1,131.04 on sale (VUDU); Mishimoto intercooler for the GR Corolla $799.95 (Subimods).List prices, Sept 2026, before shipping, import tax and fitting.

Stage 3: Bigger turbo in the factory position
360–435 hpStage 3 replaces the factory turbo with a bigger one that bolts into its place. Garage Whifbitz fits two: a Midland hybrid for 360–380 bhp, and the Artec Sport 400, built on a Garrett G25-550 core, which it says has made up to 435 bhp on pump fuel (its guide). Artec says a stock GR Corolla in Australia made 220 whp, and 300 whp with its turbo and an EcuTek tune (Artec kit page).
Typical cost: Artec Sport 400 turbo kit £3,200 before VAT (£3,840 with VAT) at Garage Whifbitz.List prices, Sept 2026, before shipping, import tax and fitting.

Stage 4: Garrett turbo kit, Syvecs computer and built engine
415–470 hpPast the factory-position turbos, builds move to a turbo kit with its own manifold and an external wastegate, which the factory computer can't control, so they need a plug-in Syvecs computer. On 99 octane at 2.0 bar, Garage Whifbitz says a G25-550 makes about 415 bhp and a G25-660 392 whp, about 467 bhp (its guide). Its forged, closed-deck engine with a G25-550 made 405 whp, about 480 bhp, on an E50 ethanol blend (the build).

Questions to ask the shop
- Is my car a 2020–2024 car or the updated 2024-on car, and do you have a file for it, manual or automatic?
- Is the file written for 98 octane, and what does it make on 95?
- Does it keep the particulate filter and catalyst working, so the car passes inspection?
- Do you log intake-air temperature, and at which stage do you require a bigger intercooler?
- At what torque do you insist on an uprated clutch?
- Is my car a personal import, and does that change the warranty or the parts you can get?
