Both versions use a Bosch MG1 engine computer that is unlocked before tuning, an 8-speed ZF automatic whose torque limits need a gearbox tune, and the same upgraded high-pressure fuel pump for ethanol files. Bolt-on parts don't cross between them: the 2.9 has two turbos and two downpipes, the 3.0 one of each.

Figures are the tuners' own claims from each guide, on the fuel each tuner states.
What the guides say about this engine
- European S4s from the 2019 facelift have a 3.0 TDI diesel instead, which these petrol tunes don't fit. The Audi S4 B9 guide
- On the 2.9, Stage 2 adds little on pump fuel: the factory downpipes already flow well, so the next real step is fuel and ethanol. The Audi RS5 B9 guide
